Roasting and Sourcing

Parkville Coffee partners with local and national importers to find sustainably farmed Organic, Fair Trade and Rainforest certified beans. Our goal is to provide the best coffee possible while also ensuring the farmers, all the way back to those harvesting the plant, are receiving fair wages. We source from a variety of importers from around the country, searching for the highest quality and most delicious beans we can find.

After receiving green coffee we sample roast and cup until we have found the perfect profile for that bean. All of our roasting is then done on our Diedrich IR-12. We chose this roaster because of its hands on nature that allows us to roast in small batches with full control.

Where our coffee comes from:

Sumatra

Strong bodied, often with incredible earthy and deep flavors. One of our favorite origins.   We have been roasting Sumatra since day one, and have yet to find ourselves bored with the rich unique flavors found in this Indonesian coffee.

Brazil

We often talk about Brazilian coffee as a classic cup, or maybe a breakfast roast.  They are usually incredibly accessible with smooth nutty flavors that go well with many tastes, making it perfect for a blend or single-origin.

Tanzania

Another personal favorite!  Whenever we find a great bag of Tanzania Peaberry it’s always exciting and they usually go quick.  We find them full-bodied, filled with notes of fruit, that produce an amazing cup.

Peru

One of the most tragically underrated origins we roast. What started out as a footnote in our line has grown into a permanent staple, as part of countless blends and one of the best coffees for our cold brew we have found.

Kenya

Complex, bright filled with fruit and citrus flavors.  Between the perfect soil and growing conditions and the unparalleled skill and dedication to their product, Kenya coffee is one of the memorable coffee drinking experiences you can find.

Ethiopia

The birthplace of coffee,  with an endless diversity of flavors and aroma.  The coffee plant grew wild in the forests of the Kaffa region, and legend says it was discovered by a goat herder who found his goats hopped up and full of energy after chowing down on some of these magic beans.
